Why every suggestion is verified by locals
WAYO's best ideas come from people who live where you're headed. Here's how we recruit, reward, and empower them to keep the library trustworthy.
From street-level truth to traveler-ready notes
An experience enters the WAYO library only after it passes three gates: factual accuracy, context, and kindness. We publish the receipts along with each place so you can see what changed and why.
1) On-the-ground check
Local editors confirm hours, routes, and onsite constraints like stairs or cash-only counters.
2) Context pass
We add nuance—best arrival times, cultural expectations, and nearby alternatives if things fall through.
3) Traveler clarity
Editors write plain-language instructions, map pins, and safety notes that match the itinerary builder.
What makes a verified idea
Local editors
People who live in the neighborhood verify hours, transit quirks, and seasonal details before anything goes live.
Diverse points of view
We pair residents, guides, accessibility advocates, and solo travelers to stress-test each recommendation.
Safety and respect
Editors flag guidance on scams, respectful dress, and tipping norms so travelers show up prepared.
- Every stop is tagged with a human who verified it and when it was last refreshed.
- We compensate editors for deep dives, not quick skims, and publish their notes openly.
- Flagged tips are reviewed within 48 hours and changes ship with a visible changelog.
Help shape how visitors experience your city
We’re building a roster of editors across neighborhoods. Share the routes you actually love, and we’ll credit you in the app so travelers know who to thank.
What you’ll do
- Verify 5–10 experiences per month with photos, accessibility notes, and your own “locals only” context.
- Join quarterly salons to compare notes with other editors and product designers.
- Vote on which neighborhoods and themes we should prioritize next.
